Import Dotdigital Marketing lists to Personalization

Automatically create segments in Personalization directly from lists in Marketing.

Before you start

  • You must first complete the initial connection of your Personalization and Marketing accounts, including an initial import task. The steps in this article allow you to set up further import jobs for additional lists.

Set up the import job

  1. In Personalization, go to Data > Segments in the left side menu.

  2. Select Create segment.

  3. Select Import, then Create segment.

Once the segment is created, there are three tabs to allow you to configure the segment settings.

Import settings

On the Import tab:

  1. Expand the Person import channel drop-down menu and select your Dotdigital Marketing import channel.

  2. Expand the Build segment for imports from this list drop-down menu and select the Marketing list you want to import.

  3. Expand the Each time the list is imported drop-down menu and choose from:

    • Clear this segment then create the segment from the email addresses in the file

    • Update this segment by adding or merging the email addresses from the file

Options settings

On the Options tab:

  1. For Segment name, enter a descriptive name for the created segment.

  2. Optionally, for Expire and delete segment after, enter the number of days after which you want the segment to be deleted.
    If you leave this field blank, the segment is deleted after seven days.

Post-build settings

On the Post-build tab:

  1. Select the checkbox to send an email notification once the segment is built.

  2. In the Email field, enter the email address you want the notification to be sent to.

Once you’ve configured all the settings as you want them, select Generate segment to build the segment now, otherwise select Save.
