Field mapping allows you to define exactly what information from Personalization you want to send to Marketing through your trigger programs, and which Marketing contact data fields to store that data in.
You must create field mappings for any contact data that you want to include in triggered sends, or when adding visitors to a Marketing list through a trigger program.
This data can then be used in Marketing for email personalization, dynamic content, segmentation and customer personas, automation and more.
Create field mappings
Before you start
The Marketing contact data field names you use to set up field mapping must exactly match the name of the field in the Marketing platform.
To check the name of a data field:In Marketing, select the Account menu icon and go to Settings > Contacts > Contact data fields.
Select the relevant tab for the data field you want:
Default data fields
Custom data fields
Check the entry in the Name column.
We strongly recommend that you set up mapping for at least the following fields:
Email
Mobile number
First name
Last name
Select the Account menu icon and go to Settings > Triggers and Messaging integrations > Messaging providers.
For your connected Marketing account, select Field mappings.
Expand the Field name drop-down menu and select the Personalization field you want to map.
Enter the Marketing contact data field you want to map to in the ESP field name field.
Select Add.
Repeat the above steps 3—5 for each field you want to map.
