Use the Dotdigital Tag with Shopify for Personalization

Set up your Shopify store to use Marketing and Personalization together with shared tracking.

You can use Marketing and Personalization together on Shopify to share tracking and product data across both platforms. This simplifies setup, ensures consistent tracking, and allows behavioural data to flow between Marketing and Personalization.

Dotdigital Marketing and Personalization uses the Dotdigital Tag that replaces legacy tracking and enables compatibility with Personalization.

Before you start

You must have:

  • A Shopify store

  • A Dotdigital Marketing account

  • A Dotdigital Personalization account

If you want to track custom data, such as custom events or additional visitor information, you must manually implement the required Dotdigital Tag API methods.

How this setup works

  • The Dotdigital Tag replaces legacy Web Behaviour Tracking for Marketing.

  • Marketing tracks behavioural data on your site using the Dotdigital Tag.
This data is automatically shared with Personalization.

  • Personalization uses product data and metadata synced through the Shopify integration.

  • When you install both the Marketing Shopify app and the Personalization Shopify app, the Dotdigital Tag is implemented automatically.

You do not need to install a separate Personalization tracking script.
